ABOUT ME:
- Favorite thing about my job: I love to learn, and I learn something new every single day. Who else can say that?!?
- What is the best dish you can cook? I love to cook, because I love sharing food with others – it’s a basic human need that develops connections and friendships. There’s something about the act of sharing food that enhances our relationships with friends, family, and former strangers. One of my favorite meals is a spinach, feta, and sundried tomato stuffed flank steak with garlic mashed potatoes and stir-fried broccolini. Another is seared ahi tuna with wasabi cream sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, and stir-fried peapods. Or grilled lamb chops, homemade rice pilaf, and creamed spinach. I also make many ethnic dishes from my Austrian/Polish heritage.
- What is your side gig/passion project/hobby? I grow many herbs – basil, rosemary, tarragon, thyme – and this year I grew my own garlic! I googled how to harvest the cloves and the cloves are drying as instructed now!
- Favorite vacation you’ve taken: Machu Picchu, Peru. I’ve traveled many places in the world and still remain mesmerized by Machu Picchu. Read about it. It’s mystical, magical, totally impossible, and incredibly beautiful. It’s an engineering masterpiece with no history and no remains.
- Favorite movie quote: “You make me want to be a better man” – Jack Nicholson, As Good as It Gets. When said to me, I consider it the greatest compliment I’ve ever received.
- I have an irrational fear of: Birds. Flapping wings terrify me. It’s irrational. Which is funny because I’m good with snakes, spiders, flying insects, some rodents, frogs, bats, etc. I visited Gibraltar and had a 30-pound monkey jump on my head. They’re protected so you can’t touch them or shoo them away. He enjoyed clawing at my hair. It was an experience!
