John Alfonsicpa

John Alfonsi graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a concentration in Accounting. He also has a Master’s of Science in Taxation from Walsh College, where he was the Research Institute of America Graduate Tax Award recipient. He brings over 40 years of experience in tax and advisory services, focusing his practice on business valuation, economic damages, and tax planning and consulting for pass-through entities. John is a recognized financial expert in federal and various state circuit courts across the country. In his spare time, he is an adjunct professor at his Alma Mater, teaching master’s degree courses in taxation and valuation.

FUN FACTS

• Favorite thing about my job? When performing valuations, I get to learn about different businesses and the industries they operate in. I’ve learned about industries ranging from genome sequencing to steel processing – and everything in between!
• What is the best dish you can cook? My own concoction I refer to as “Pasta Giovanni”. Ground Italian sausage with green, red, and yellow peppers and onions sauteed in olive oil and garlic, served over linguine aglio e olio. Perfect with a good red wine.
• Favorite Vacation you’ve taken: My favorite vacation is the one I have not taken yet – visiting Italy. My bucket list item is to visit the town my father came from (Frosinone, Italy) as well as Terrasini, Sicily where my mother’s family is from.
• What is your side gig/passion project/hobby? Anything music related! I played guitar in garage bands in high school and college. I still play but not nearly as often as I would like. My taste runs to blues/classic rock/punk/garage rock, but I will listen to most anything.
• Favorite Movie Quote: “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.” – The Godfather.
• If you could have dinner with one Marvel character, who would it be and why? Iron Man/Tony Stark – genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
