Carlos Salgado, CPA, CVA is a manager at Prosperity Partners with a focus in business valuations and income taxes. Carlos began his career in 2016 as an accountant helping his clients with bookkeeping and tax related matters. Over the years Carlos began to specialize on working with closely held businesses and their related owners. By working closely with his clients on yearly accounting and income taxes, Carlos developed a strong financial background and financial statement analysis skills. Carlos is considered a trusted advisor by his clients, especially with items concerning income taxes and other financial matters. He works with mid-size enterprises focusing on flow-through taxation within a variety of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, professional services, real estate, and retail. He provides accounting and tax services, including compliance, tax planning, and management consulting. Carlos has published various advisory articles with topics including: income tax credits and cryptocurrency transactions.

Carlos works on business valuation engagements by valuing closely held businesses for tax and strategic business planning purposes. His valuation practice centers on the valuation of closely held businesses, their valuation of closely held equity and debt securities for transaction, litigation, business succession, restructuring, and transfer pricing purposes.

Carlos became a licensed CPA in 2019 and Certified Valuation Analyst in 2023. Carlos is active in a number of professional associations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Illinois CPA Society; and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysist.
During his free time, you can find Carlos exploring the zoo or museum with his son or playing video games with his with wife.

Favorite thing about my job: Contrary to popular belief, accounting is actually more of a people-oriented job. My favorite part of being a CPA/CVA is meeting different people with different backgrounds and learning from those experiences.

I have an irrational fear of large sea creatures. The thought a large predatory (i.e. a Megalodon) in the water where I cannot run or fight scares me.

Favorite workout or sport to play? Without a doubt boxing—I grew up boxing and even competed at the amateur level. Recently, I’ve been building up the home gym with boxing equipment and I hope to teach my son when he’s ready.
